Abstract

  • The deflation of Kendari City in September 2018 was recorded at 0.54 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 128.03. Nationally, from 82 cities that calculated inflation in 66 cities recorded deflation and 16 cities recorded inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Pare-pare (South Sulawesi Province) 1.59 percent and the lowest deflation was recorded in Tegal (Central Java Province), Singkawang (West Kalimantan Province), Samarinda (East Kalimantan Province), and Ternate (North Maluku Province) respectively - at 0.01 percent.
  • The deflation that occurred in Kendari City was caused by the decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group by 2.84 percent. While the recorded inflation group was the health group 1.93 percent; clothing 0.31 percent; transport, communication and financial services 0.23 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.10 percent as well as housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.06 percent. While the education, recreation and sports group did not experience a change / relatively stable.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation are tomato vegetables, long beans, bloated / bloated / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso, spinach, cayenne pepper, fruit tomatoes, rambe, anchovies, chicken meat, and cassava leaves.
  • Commodities contributing to the biggest inflation were hospital rates, air transport, flyover, rice, prescription drugs, long eggplants, Muslim clothes, ice cream, skipjack / scales and gold jewelery.
