Abstract

  • Kendari City Inflation in July of 2018, recorded at 0.66 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 130.40. Nationally from 82 cities calculating inflation 68 cities recorded inflation and 14 cities recorded deflation. Highest inflation
  • recorded in Sorong (West Papua Province) 1.47 percent and the lowest inflation recorded in Banyuwangi and Surabaya (East Java Province) of 0.03 percent each.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was caused by the rise of the food price index by 2.25 percent; education, recreation, and sports 1.54 percent; health 0.63 percent; clothing 0.36 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.18 percent and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the group recorded deflation ie transportation, communication and financial services 0.54 percent.
  • The commodities that contributed the largest inflation were the mobile phone pulse rate; Cayenne pepper; long beans; vegetable tomatoes; spinach; Kale; academy / college; rice and fruit tomatoes.
  • Commodities that contribute to deflation are air transport; skipjack / scales; kite / bengkol; milkfish / sponge; bloating / bloating; red onion; cumicumi; papaya; instant noodles and coconut.
  • Of the eleven cities on the island of Sulawesi, ten recorded inflation and one recorded deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Bau-bau (Southeast Sulawesi Province) of 1.20 percent with CPI of 138.20. The lowest inflation was recorded in Gorontalo (Gorontalo Province) and Mamuju (West Sulawesi Province) of 0.14 percent respectively with CPI of 128.69 and 132.55.
  • The inflation rate of Kendari City in calendar year (January-July 2018) is 4.09 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2018 against July 2017) is 1.27 percent.
  • The inflation rate for the same period of calendar year (January-July 2017) is 5.82 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate is 5.84 percent.
