Abstract

  • Kendari City Inflation in December of 2017, recorded at 0.68 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.28. Nationally from 82 cities that calculate inflation throughout the city recorded inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Jayapura (Papua Province) 2.28 percent and the lowest inflation recorded in Sorong (West Papua Province) 0.18 percent.
  • Inflation occurring in Kendari City was recorded due to the rise of four price indexes in the foodstuffs group of 2.42 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.27 percent; finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.14 percent; transport, communications and financial services 0.13 percent. The declining price index is in the health group of 0.07 and the clothing 0.17 percent. While the education, recreation and sports groups have not changed / relatively stable.
  • The commodities that contribute the largest inflation are skipjack / scales; bloating / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso; kite / bengkol; rice; banana heart; cement; chicken eggs; household fuel; mustard greens; and onion.
  • Commodities that contribute to deflation are cayenne pepper; squid; orange; long beans; long eggplant; women's leather sandals; cucumber; white cabbage / cabbage; children's shoes and children's slippers.
  • Of the eleven cities on the island of Sulawesi, all cities recorded inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Palu (Central Sulawesi Province) 1.87 percent with CPI of 132.59. While the lowest inflation was recorded in Bulukumba (South Sulawesi Province) 0.30 percent with CPI 136.31.
  • The inflation rate of Kendari City in calendar year (January-December) was 2017 2.96 percent and year-on-year inflation rate (December 2017 to December 2016) was 2.96 percent.
  • The inflation rate for the same period of calendar year (January-December) was 2016 3.07 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2016 to December 2015) was 3.07 percent.
